BUT… HE PRAYED!
“ The Christian on his knees sees more than the philosopher on tiptoe. God sends no one away empty except those who are full of themselves.”
James 5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
Notice that Elijah was just like you and I in his nature. Just as human, just as apt to failure as you and I. However, the scripture shows how he separated himself, how he distinguished himself from others: and he prayed or but he prayed! The difference between those that are mightily endued with vision and power from on High and those “believers” who are not is: prayer! Power and vision are granted to those who humble themselves and call upon God. They turn to nothing or no one else but God alone. They thrust their whole dependance on God, with these, it is God or nothing!
Being the man of prayer that Elijah was, I believe he saw clearly how God planned to turn the heart of His people Israel back to Himself. Elijah simply carried out what was revealed to him in prayer! The fire of God fell and the people fell on their faces crying out, “The Lord He is God, the Lord He is God!” The entire nation returned to God! (see 1Kings 18:20-46)
You and I are just like everyone else. However, earnest, heartfelt, continual Spirit led prayer will distinguish us from all the rest. Let’s be the kind of Christians that God can answer with transforming fire from Heaven! May the Lord use us turn many hearts back to Him before the return of Jesus Christ! HALLELUJAH!
Every blessing!
